Gear Up for School: Lumio's Updates and Improvements

As the new school year kicks off, we are excited for you to have a year of enriched learning experiences, engaging your students like never before! To support this, we are unveiling a host of updates and improvements, from interactive audio features to more fun with content creation to simplified workflows. Let’s dive into what’s new and how these enhancements can level up your classroom.

Add and Attach Audio to Pages and Objects

One of the most exciting updates this year is a game-changer for guided learning, supporting emerging reading and language learners, and encouraging student choice.

Teachers and students can add an audio file or record up to five minutes of audio to any lesson page, text, shape or image. This not only helps to support diverse learning styles but also amplifies student voices, allowing for a more inclusive learning environment.

To attach audio to a page, click the gallery button and select the microphone icon. Choose to record audio or upload an audio file. You can use audio to provide extra support with detailed verbal explanations, or your students can share learning connections and their thinking processes with audio responses.

To attach audio to individual objects, including text, shapes, and images, select the drop-down arrow on the object and choose “Attach audio.” The audio will appear next to the object and move with it. This can help with reading and vocabulary development, language learning, and more!

Additionally, the Lumio Library has been updated with premade content utilizing this new audio feature. Whether you need a quick activity starter or a ready-made lesson, you can easily incorporate these resources into your classroom to save time and enhance your teaching.

Stickers

Creation has never been so fun and interactive! With the addition of stickers to the gallery, both teachers and students can add stickers to lesson pages.

Encourage student-centered learning with stickers and have them explore their creative side with this new option for content creation - leveraging stickers when creating posters, graphs, infographics, check-ins and more!

Use stickers to provide playful feedback in delivery mode or transform traditional handouts into dynamic and engaging activities, making it easier to highlight important information, add visual cues, and create a more engaging lesson experience. This creative element not only boosts student engagement but also adds a layer of fun to the learning process.

Text Formatting Improvements

We understand that clear, well-organized content is crucial for effective learning. That’s why we’ve made significant improvements to text formatting in Lumio.

Creating and managing lists has never been easier with the addition of bulleted and numbered lists. These improvements help in structuring content more clearly, making it easier for students to follow along and respond. That’s not all! You and your students can now also adjust line spacing when editing text. This flexibility ensures content is easier to read, enhancing overall comprehension and engagement.

Assign Button

Assigning lessons to your students so they can work at their own pace or outside of class time just got easier. It's now with the start button, so from a single place you can decide if you want to start the lesson, assign it, or edit it!

Schoology Integration

Great news for schools using Schoology! Lumio now seamlessly integrates with Schoology for users on the Spark plan. This initial integration offers single sign-on capabilities and embeds the Lumio experience directly within the Schoology platform allowing you to easily access and manage your content without jumping between tabs streamlining your workflow and saving valuable time.

And don’t forget - Lumio offers this integration with Canvas as well. So, whether your school uses Schoology or Canvas, you can enjoy a cohesive, streamlined teaching experience.
