Issue

Interactive Gallery items from SMART Essentials for Educators or the Lesson Activity Toolkit, such as the various dice and question flipper, either appear as a gray box, or are surrounded by a gray box.

Cause

Your computer’s color-quality is set lower than 32 bit.

  1. Right-click your desktop, and then select Properties.

The Display Properties dialog box appears.

  2. Press the Settings tab, and then select Highest (32 bit) from the Color Quality list.

  3. Press OK to apply the setting.

  4. Press Yes if prompted.

To set the computer’s color quality to 32 bit in Windows Vista operating system software

  2. Double-click Personalization.

The Personalize Appearance and Sounds window appears.

  3. Press Display Settings.

The Display Settings dialog box appears.

    The Display window appears.

Background

Some interactive Flash Gallery items are designed using 32 bit color codes. If your computer is set to a color depth lower than 32 bit, it’s not able to interpret these color codes correctly. Any colors, including transparencies, using 32 bit color codes appear as a single color, usually gray.
