Your Sympodium Interactive Pen Display’s Tethered Pen is Too Sensitive

SMART Hardware Sympodium interactive pen displays

Issue

The tethered pen on your Sympodium interactive pen display is too sensitive, and it interacts with your display before you press the display surface.

Solution

Complete the following procedures to stop your tethered pen from interacting with your pen display before you press the display surface:

  • Disable the Enable Hover feature.

  • Temporarily remove your tethered pen’s plastic tip (all models except the DT770 model).

To disable the Enable Hover feature

  1. Press the SMART Board icon in your computer’s notification area, and then select Control Panel.

The SMART Board software control panel appears.

  2. Press SMART Board Settings

The SMART Board Settings dialog box appears.

  3. Select your Sympodium interactive pen display in the Select a SMART product area.

A blue border appears around your pen display.

  4. Select Mouse Settings in the list.

  5. Clear the Enable Hover check box, and then press OK.

  6. Close the SMART Board software control panel.

If your tethered pen still interacts with your display before you press the display surface, temporarily remove your tethered pen’s plastic tip.

Caution

Do not store your tethered pen on its plastic tip. In order to prevent damaging your tethered pen when you’re not using it, place it in its designated slot on your Sympodium interactive pen display.

  1. Using the O-ring tool included with your pen display, grasp your tethered pen’s plastic tip. Pull the plastic tip out of your tethered pen.

  2. Pull the plastic tip out of your tethered pen.

    Important

Don’t use your tethered pen for 24 hours.

  3. After 24 hours, reinsert the plastic tip. Firmly push it into your tethered pen’s barrel until it stops.

If your tethered pen is still too sensitive, and it interacts with your display before you press the display surface, contact your reseller or SMART Support, and order a replacement pen.
