What are the requirements to be a SMART Certified Trainer?
This programme includes pre- and post-session requirements that must be completed before you receive your SMART Certified Trainer designation. There are also ongoing requirements to maintain your designation.
Pre-Session Requirements
- Participants must have solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system
- Participants must be a SMART Certified Trainer for SMART Notebook collaborative learning software
Post-Session Requirements
- All participants must successfully complete an online certification assessment
Ongoing Requirements

SMART Certified Trainers may be required to successfully complete an annual online assessment to maintain their designation
What materials do I receive?
Learning Materials
- A SMART Notebook Maths Tools Training Learner Workbook – the learner’s reference tool during the training session
- A USB storage device, loaded with materials for learners to use during and after the session
Facilitator Materials
- A SMART Notebook Maths Tools Training Facilitator’s Guide – the comprehensive guide for delivering a SMART Notebook Maths Tools Training session
- A Trainer Resource CD, which includes demonstration files, training presentation files and product User’s Guides
After successfully completing the online certification assessment, SMART Certified Trainers can access electronic versions of the learning materials, and have rights to distribute them to training customers. SMART Certified Trainers can also purchase production-quality learner materials directly from SMART.
Customer Requirements
- All participants must have basic computer skills prior to attending this session
- A SMART Board interactive whiteboard (necessary for the trainer to deliver the presentation)
- A facilitator computer (provided by the facilitator). The computer must connect to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard. If your network security prohibits connection of an outside computer, a facilitator computer must be provided
- Speakers (attached to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard)
- One computer per learner (1:1 ratio)
- Every computer must have the SMART Notebook Maths Tools installed for this training session
- All computers running Microsoft Windows operating system
- All computers connected within a LAN – wired or wireless. A 10 Mbps TCP/IP network interface adapter is required
- All computers must have the most recent version of Adobe Flash installed
