At SMART we believe that being a good corporate citizen is one of the cornerstones of a successful organization. In 1997 we supported the founding of the SMARTer Kids Foundation. Since that time the Foundation has become the focal point for all of our philanthropic activities.

The SMARTer Kids Foundation is a private organization that provides opportunities for students and teachers to learn new skills and grow in self-confidence. The Foundation helps equip classrooms with technology products, provides collaborative learning opportunities for teachers and students, and supports practical research on the impact and effectiveness of technology in the classroom.

Tens of thousands of North American K–12 and higher-education institutions have benefited from the Foundation's programs, and now many of these opportunities are being extended to help education communities worldwide.

The three main programs that the SMARTer Kids Foundation and SMART sponsor include:
	Grants for SMART products
	Teaching Excellence Awards program sponsors existing teacher-recognition programs through the donation of educational technologies
	Connections provides children throughout Canada and the United States with opportunities for adventure, self-discovery and growth through in-class and exchange activities
